Abstract

BERMEJO BENCOMO, Walkiria; GARCIA NOVOA, Wilfredo  and  BAEZ PUPO, Margarita. Giant condyloma acuminatum of the vulva: A case report. AMC [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.2, pp.114-119. ISSN 1025-0255.

A 16 years, single, nullipara black lady, with a healthy past medical history sought care at the Gynecology Department of the Kabwe General Hospital, in Zambia. Her chief complaint was the genital warts that in the last 6-12 months had been growing rapidly thus making it difficult for her to walk. The physical examination revealed a huge fluted tumor resembling a cocks crest which almost occluded the vulva and smelled like condyloma acuminatum. The rough surfaces made vaginal examination with speculum impossible. The rough surfaces made vaginal examination with speculum impossible. The patient tested reactive for the serologic test and positive for HIV. After treatment with serology and administration of local antiviral drugs without results, a simple two-time vulvectomy was performed, this ended in the full removal of the tumor without finding similar growths on the vagina. Hystologic tests confirmed the clinical suspicion of giant condyloma acuminatum of the vulva.
