Abstract

A descriptive study (in system and health service) was accomplished at the 12 office of the West Health area of the Municipality of Camagüey, from March 2002 to January 2003, with the objective to determine the condition of the oral health in carriers removable partial and total prosthesis patients. The sample was constituted by 43 patients, to whom an oral health and educative diagnosis were made. Risk factors that prevailed were: inadequate brushing of remnant teeth (86, 9 %), do not make periodic visits to the odontologist (83, 7 %), and the continuous use of the prosthetic appliance (81, 4 %). Periodontal disease (69, 5 %), dental caries (47, 8 %), and the subprosthesis stomatitis (23, 2 %) were the main illnesses of the oral cavity that predominated in the study. The hygienic- health - oral information was evaluated of wrong in the (69, 8 %) of the treated patients.
