Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2003 to assess the severity rate of bronchial asthma and associated factors in 173 patients from the 10 th and 26 th doctor offices bran that are of the “dependencies Ignacio Agramonte” Polyclinic Municipality of Camagüey live the survey which was computer processed included age groups, sex, contributing factors, triggering factors, and classification by severity. Results showed prevalence of bronchial asthma among age groups 1-9 years (2, 43 %) and 10-19 years (23, 70 %), prevalence of mild interments (43, 35 %) and mild persistent (21, 97 %), prevalence of kerosene, coal or fire wood-fueled cookers as contributing factors, and prevalence of climatic changes as triggering factors. It was concluded that exposure to tobacco smoke (among contributing factors) to climatic changes, to alergene inhalation, along with certain physical exercise, certain foodstuffs, and psychologic factors (among the triggering factors) were related to an increase in bronchial asthma severity.
