Abstract

PILA PEREZ, Rafael; PILA PELAEZ, Rafael  and  CAMPOS PRICE, Damaris. Subacute thyroiditis as a cause of unknown origin fever: A case report. AMC [online]. 2006, vol.10, n.5, pp.115-120. ISSN 1025-0255.

Quervain's subacute thyroiditis is a rare disease. A patient with a diagnosis of unknown origin fever in the course of this disease is presented. The clinical study of the echographic, gammagraphic and hormonal laboratory detected this illness. The clinical aspects, concerning examinations to this case, and the therapy with which the patient is totally recovered, are discussed. As a conclusion, though it is an unfrequent disease, it should bear in mind in young women with thyroid manifestations or without them, and in those that present the said fever.

Keywords : THYROIDITIS SUBACUTE; TENOSYNOVITIS; FEVER OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN; CASE REPORT.
