A descriptive study in the systems and health services was performed with the objective to influence the information level about prevention of oral cancer in adult population of the doctors’ offices of teaching profile at Ismael Clark y Mascaró Provincial Dental Clinic of Camagüey, from December 2002 to November 2005. The universe was constituted by 7252, older than 15 years and by stratified randomized sample of 183 patients. The individual clinical records to obtain information about risk factors of each patient were checked up, and also was applied an interview designed to this purpose, to diagnose the information level about oral cancer and the risk perception to fall sick, where, as relevant results were obtained, in decreasing order; alcohol and smoking intake, maladjusted prosthesis, inadequate oral hygiene and edged obturations. The level information about prevention of oral cancer that predominated was unsatisfactory in the 58, 0 % and the 73, 2 % of the sample did not have risk perception to fall ill, therefore it was evident the necessity to increase the promotion and education for health in our health offices. Through the obtained results is recommendable the application of an educative strategy in following studies and evaluate the obtained results.
