Abstract

A retrospective descriptive study with the objective to characterize the nosocomial infections in patients with oncological illness, was assessed, entered at "Maria Curie" Provincial Oncological Hospital of Camagüey.The universe of work was constituted by 264 patients. Data were processed in an XP microcomputer and MICROSTAT was the statistical program utilized. The intrahospitable infections rate by each 100 discharges oscillated between 14 and the 19%, the most isolated microorganism was Escherichia coli, the associated main risk factor was the catheterization of the urinary viae; the drog-fast was significant for all the isolated microorganisms and the hospital stopover until 21 days was increased.
