Abstract

A descriptive study to know the ergometric findings in prehypertensive and hypertensive patients, was carried out admitted in external consultation of internal medicine at "Manuel Ascunce Domenech", Provincial Hospital of Camagüey during  2005 year. The universe climbed to 70 patients, to which it was applied a survey with the selected variables according to bibliographical criteria, such as: figures of arterial tension and ergometric findings (myocardial ischemia, arrhythmias and pressor response at effort), whose data were processed with Microstat statistical program. There was not predominance regarding to tensional figures previous to ergometric exam, taking into account the ergometric findings arrhythmias represented the 40% while myocardial ischemia the 11.4%; the light pressor response at effort was the most frequent one with the 48.6%. The stage 2 arterial hypertension was associated with greater frequency to myocardial ischemia and arrhythmias and light pressor response was presented in more than the half of the stage 1 prehypertensive and hypertensive patient.
