A summary of the recommendations of the American and European Thoracic Society on the evaluation and treatment of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, is carry out, taking into account the previously described guides according to ATS / ESR and GOLD from 1995 to 2005, what provides a Standard form to treat our patients. An integrated and systematic guide for a coordinated care in the different degrees of attention is offered, new concepts provides a reliable and appropriate vision, for Integral General Practitioners, nurses, pulmonologists and critical care specialists.
