Abstract

Background: numerous are the causes that may originate alterations or to accelerate the incorrect positions of teeth and their inadequate relationships with maxillae. Objective: to determine the level of information on deforming oral habits. Method: a cross-sectional descriptive study, in educators and pedagogical assistants of kindergartens of the Ignacio Agramonte District from January 2007 to May 2008 was performed. The universe was constituted by ninety educators and pedagogical assistants and the sample was made up of seventy-three workers. The level of information was determined through a structured interview. Results: the 42.5% of the sample was not very informed. The 83.6% of the sample was motivated by the topic, and in the selection of the focal group many suggested they were imparted a training course on deforming oral habits. Conclusions: the level of information that prevailed was the one of little informed and inside this category educators turned out to be the less informed ones, more than half of the sample expressed to be motivated and to know on the study topic and they asked for to be imparted training courses.
