ARREDONDO BRUCE, Alfredo Enrique; AVILA AROSTEGUI, Debbie and FERNANDEZ HEMELIS, Luis. Massive cardiac metastasis: an infrequent case. AMC [online]. 2012, vol.16, n.6, pp. 1760-1765. ISSN 1025-0255.
Introduction: metastatic heart tumors are among the most unknown and discussed issues in Oncology, there are few studies on this topic. Cardiac metastasis is defined as the spread of a distant tumor to any of the structures that make up the heart, pericardium, epicardium, myocardium, endocardium, and also tumors affecting heart cavities or intracavitary thrombi of neoplastic cells. Clinical case: a case carrier of squamous cell lung epidermoid carcinoma with secondary metastasis of pericardium, epicardium and myocardium was presented, evolving unfavorably with a final picture of cardiac tamponade. Conclusions: the postmortem examination diagnosed a lung cancer with heart metastasis.
