Abstract
SANTANA ALVAREZ, Jorge et al. Small-cell larynx carcinoma: a case report. AMC [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.5, pp. 606-612. ISSN 1025-0255.
Background: small-cell larynx carcinoma is an infrequent tumor characterized by an aggressive clinical behavior and a high incidence of metastasis. Objective: to present the infrequent case of a patient with a small-cell carcinoma located in the larynx. Clinical case: the case of a thirty-six-year-old patient with progressive dysphasia is presented. During the physical examination the laryngoscopy showed an exophytic, rounded tumor affecting the laryngeal motility, localized in the right ventricular band. The histological result showed an epidermoid carcinoma with cells that reminded a small-cells lung carcinoma. Conclusions: due to the few reports of cases of small-cells larynx carcinoma that appear in the literature, this case was presented. The literature related to the clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic aspects of this infrequent tumor was reviewed.
