Abstract

Abdominal surgery has increased significantly in quantity and complexity due to the technological development of recent years. In this context, the so-called abdominal catastrophes are observed more frequently in critical care services. Currently, in the field of general surgery, it is mainly attributed to a critical patient, affected by a severe pathology and with Open Abdomen (AA), a condition that carries a high mortality (20 to 60%). On the management of AA, this review is addressed.
