Abstract

MACIAS BESTARD, Camilo; MENDEZ TORRES, Víctor Manuel; LOO MUNOZ, Nadine de las Mercedes  and  MONTES DE OCA GONZALEZ, Yamirka. Some theoretical considerations on the counseling and psychological support of people with HIV/AIDS. Rev. inf. cient. [online]. 2019, vol.98, n.1, pp. 106-116. ISSN 1028-9933.

Introduction:

people infected with HIV/AIDS in the world are growing, which do not receive the psychological support they really need as part of their comprehensive treatment.

Objective:

to model some theoretical considerations on the counseling and psychological support of people with HIV/AIDS as an essential complement in their comprehensive care.

Method:

criteria of several authors were evaluated from the psychosocial point of view and the bibliographic review according to the methods of the theoretical level of the research: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, modeling and systemic approach.

Results:

guidance is offered for health personnel who work with people living with HIV/AIDS. In this way, professionals and students of the health sector will be guided on how to approach the psychological care process of patients with this infection.

Conclusions:

for any advice or support it is necessary to assess the psychological and emotional impact that the current concerns have on the affected or affected. Although the counselor or the supporter is not a specialist in any of the fields of mental health, you should always be aware of the current and potential psychological reactions that this person with HIV/AIDS may develop in the future.

Keywords : advice; psychological support; people with HIV/AIDS.
