Abstract

A community intervention was carried out that included 50 mothers of preschool and school children at risk of malnutrition, of the Vista Alegre People's Council, belonging to the "Armando García Aspurú" Community Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba, from September, 2005 to September, 2006, aimed at modifying the level of knowledge on some dietary patterns. The percentage was used as summary measure, the X2 test for the statistical validation and the Mc Nemar test as comparison measure. It was possible to elevate the knowledge of the progenitors considerably on dietary patterns to improve the nutritional evaluation in the group of children studied.
