Thirty patients needing exodontias of the lower molars, assisted in the Stomatological Department of "Dr. Joaquín Castillo Duany" Teaching Provincial Hospital from Santiago de Cuba, during February to March, 2008 were evaluated in order to specify the effectiveness of the application of the anesthetic techniques: conventional conductive technique and the variant technique of Dr. Mandado Bertod. Two stomatologists of wide experience and good performance in the procedures and 15 patients for each technique were selected, as well as the variables that allowed to determine and to measure the effectiveness for each of these techniques. The variant technique of Dr. Mandado turned out to be more effective to block the inferior alveolar nerve, with the administration of less than a carpule for each molar extraction carried out, however, the conventional one required 1,3 carpules as average and its effectiveness was unsatisfactory.
