Abstract

A community intervention was performed in 50 patients of the doctor's office No. 18, belonging to "Armando García Aspurú" Teaching Polyclinic of Santiago de Cuba, from September 2008 to March 2009, in order to modify the knowledge of some aspects related to diabetes mellitus. Percentage as summary measure and the McNemar test were used for statistical evaluation of results. The implemented educational program was very effective as it was possible to increase the level of knowledge in this respect, raise health culture of participants in the activity, and introduce new topics of interest for patients of the case material.
