Abstract
PEREZ DIAZ, Leonardo and NAPOLES GARCIA, Ana Dianela. Growth glaucoma: diagnosis, surgical treatment, and comprehensive follow-up. MEDISAN [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.8, pp.1079-1090. ISSN 1029-3019.
A descriptive and longitudinal study of 53 patients aged between 0 and 19 years old with growth glaucoma surgically treated through trabeculectomy at Ophthalmology Service from the Southern Children Hospital in Santiago de Cuba was carried out from 1999 to 2010. General characteristics of diagnosis, surgical treatment, and comprehensive follow-up were determined. The latter was never lower than a lustrum after the intervention. First symptoms referred to optical rehabilitation were taken into account. Results of this technique applied in all the members of the case material were compared, from which it was derived that this technique was effective in 69,0 % of them. Furthermore, other clinical data as well as some related to the health care offered to children and teenagers undergoing this sickness are provided.
