The selection of both groups was made through the intentional non-probability sampling (that is to say, according to the arrival order). The first group was composed of 25 patients with chronic gingivitis (diagnosed through Loë and Silness´ gingival index), while the second group consisted of 50 patients (2 healthy teenagers per each patient). In the case material, male teenagers were the most affected by the aforementioned gum inflammation, directly related to poor oral hygiene and smoking habit.
