Abstract
PERDOMO GARCIA, Frank Josué et al. Coronary bypass surgery without extracorporeal circulation at the Heart Center in Santiago de Cuba during 2007-2009. MEDISAN [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.12, pp. 1705-1713. ISSN 1029-3019.
An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted in patients operated due to ischemic heart disease without extracorporeal circulation at the Heart Center of Santiago de Cuba during 2007-2009. Male sex (79,4 %) and a mean age of 59,8 years predominated. Patients with tri-arterial and left main coronary artery disease represented 72,0 %. The conversion rate was found to be 3,3 %; the incidence of postoperative complications was low. Severe complications occurred in 8,3 % of the cases and among the variables with highest level of statistical association with their occurrence were age over 60 years, female sex, emergency surgery and acute coronary syndrome. Mortality was 2,2 %. It is concluded that this technique yields adequate results with low rates of complications and mortality for patients operated at this institution.
