Abstract

BATISTA ROMAGOSA, Maritza; SORIANO GONZALEZ, Blanca Inés  and  BERGES CABRALES, Luis Enrique. Possibilities, action mechanisms and challenges of therapy with electromagnetic field of extremely low frequency against psoriasis. MEDISAN [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.12, pp. 1775-1790. ISSN 1029-3019.

The fundamental elements found in original articles, as well as in specialized web sites, updated and validated as reliable regarding the topic of the electromagnetic fields are exposed. Some of the physical mechanisms (primary) of the extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMF extremely low frequency electromagnetic field, according to its initials in English) on the biological structures are analyzed in the paper. Evidences on the biological effects (secondary) of these fields on certain types of tissues that could explain the results with the use of this therapy in the treatment of patients affected by psoriasis are also analyzed.

Keywords : extremely low frequency electromagnetic field; primary physical mechanism; secondary biological effect; psoriasis.
