Abstract

A community intervention was carried out in 26 blocks with very high risk for Aedes aegypti infestation, belonging to "Carlos J. Finlay" Polyclinic of Santiago de Cuba municipality from April to July 2011 in order to reduce the environmental factors of the community influencing on this. The implemented strategy eliminated the risks that could be potential mosquito breeding sites and provided health education to the population. Sustainability in dengue control requires the mobilization and participation of all sectors of the society and economics in a joint effort, which supports community actions.
