Keeping in mind that the gastrointestinal tract is a functional and immunologic unit, resulting from the interrelation of several organs responsible for foods digestion, absorption of the nutrients contained in them and regulation of the serum concentrations, an exhaustive literature review aimed at exposing the nutritional implications in the intestinal malabsorption syndrome and its relation with malnutrition was carried out.
