Abstract
JIMENEZ ARIAS, María Elena. Greco-Latin and of other sources affixes in medical terms. MEDISAN [online]. 2012, vol.16, n.6, pp. 1005-10021. ISSN 1029-3019.
The prefixes and suffixes (included among affixes) are particles involved in the formation of compounds or derivatives, and change their meaning; the former placed in front of the lexeme or root and the latter behind. They are also considered elective or optional morphemes, since their use is not mandatory, however they are very numerous in medical terms, mainly those from Greek or Latin. In this paper lists of the most common affixes, alphabetically arranged, are provided, which knowledge can be useful to determine the semantic value of many of these voices.
Keywords : prefix; suffix; optional morpheme; medical term; Greek and Latin.
