Abstract

A descriptive and cross sectional study to evaluate the professional knowledge on stomatological emergencies in the out-patient from Barrio Adentro in the Venezuelan state of Táchira was carried out from January to June, 2012. The universe was constituted by 55 professionals who assisted emergencies in the daily services. The primary data were obtained from a questionnaire for this purpose that gathered the following data: years of graduation, specialty or residence, teaching category, questions on the professional knowledge and to detect the learning necessities. An on-line database was implemented with the software Epi Info 6. As summary measures the absolute numbers and the percentage were used. It was concluded that the knowledge related to the diagnosis and treatment of the stomatological emergencies was adequate (94,5 %)
