Abstract

A qualitative investigation on aged adults was carried out in "Ramón López Peña" Teaching polyclinic health area in Santiago de Cuba city, from December, 2012 to the same month of 2013, in order to identify the risk perception on AIDS in this populational group that was randomly chosen and whose members should not have cognitive deterioration or carry the disease, besides they should give their informed consent to participate in the study. Four groups were formed and 3 meetings were carried out with each of them, where diverse group techniques were applied and all the opinions were gathered, what allowed to obtain the knowledge, feelings and perceptions of the participants. It could be concluded that the aged adults had knowledge on the disease; however, they didn't perceive its risk for themselves
