Abstract

A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 40 hypertensive patients over 15 years of age, of both genders, belonging to the 20-32 doctor's office at "Martha Abreu de Estévez" University Polyclinic, Santa Clara municipality, Villa Clara province. The objective of the research was to determine oral health status of these patients. Age, gender, oral diseases, COP index and Russell's periodontal index with the form of the Oral Cancer Detection Program examination, as well as needs for dental treatment were the investigated variables. Female gender (with good oral hygiene), ages of more than 60 years, periodontal disease in male gender, and need for prosthetic treatment predominated.
