Low back pain is pain in the lower back, between the last ribs and the gluteal region; it is caused by alterations in the structures of the spine. Pharmacopuncture involves injecting certain substances into acupuncture points to relieve patient pain. A descriptive and prospective study was carried out with the objective of evaluating the effectiveness of pharmacopuncture in patients with low back pain who were admitted to the Orthopedic service at Cmdte. "Manuel Fajardo Rivero" Clinical and Surgical University Hospital. The study universe consisted of 130 patients; the sample was 100 patients: 50 were treated with pharmacopuncture (study group) and the other 50 with drugs (control group). The visual analog scale was used to assess pain. A favourable evolution was observed in patients treated with pharmacopuncture (96% healing), in relation to those who only used drugs.
