Abstract

BETANCOURT DOIMEADIOS, Juan Eusebio et al. Need to Legislate as Contraventions, Biosecurity Standards Violations and Hygiene and Hospital Epidemiology. CCM [online]. 2014, vol.18, n.1, pp. 79-88. ISSN 1560-4381.

A literature review was done to deepen knowledge on biosafety, infections associated with health care and hospital epidemiology. The review considered standards, programs and articles related to these issues and legislation about the imposition of fines for personnel contraventions regarding hygiene. Violations that are frequently observed in care and services in health institutions as well as fines specified in the legislation were analyzed. The authors concluded that not all observed violations are established as contraventions. Based on these violations and failure to administratively sanction, the creation of a law body was considered necessary to solve this problem.

Keywords : biosafety; epidemiology; violation; contravention; fines; legislation.
