Abstract

Introduction: Cuba needs to be ready for today’s science purposes. Technical solutions to society problems and professionals improvement, concern knowledge production, transference and socialization of the university. Social Sciences postgraduates courses of Social Disturbances of Science and Technology (SDST), opens new knowledge's fields, unexplored for these professionals, so they do not receive this lecture, in pre-grade’s mode. Objective: appraising academic and social pertinence of SDST postgraduates courses for university professors. Methods: from 2017 to 2018, an investigation at Holguín's University was accomplished. Different lectures professors, were included. They used theoretic and empiric methods like: analysis, synthesis, bibliographic revision, opinion polls, structured interviews and observation of postgrade activity. Results: a proposal of contents’ critical analysis of present-day teaching practice, focused on Science, Tecnology and Society, with interdisciplinary concepts. Conclusions: SDST postgraduates courses for university professors, contributes to scientific and technological knowledge, with social benefits. Social clauses favor educational task, not only in material production, but also public policies and scientific and technological developments, requiered at present-day Cuban university.
