Abstract

Introduction:

the monitoring of the quality of the medical attention is a social demand.

Objective:

to evaluate the quality of the medical attention to the patient with upper gastrointestinal bleeding in hospital.

Method:

was a study a descriptive, prospective and longitudinal study of 98 patients selected at random in the Hospital Dr. Agostinho Neto, Guantánamo, Cuba, during the triennium 2015-2017. Approaches were explored on the structure, the process and the results of this medical attention. Results: 48.6% of the structure indicators, 48.4% of the indicators of the process were evaluated as Not very adequate and 77.7% of the indicators of results were evaluated as adequate.

Conclusions:

52.1% of the total of the indicators was evaluated as adequate, for what the quality of the attention to these patients didn't satisfy the aspirations, mainly for limitations in the structure for the development of this medical attention.
