Introduction:
disasters have become recognized as a priority issue in Public Health worldwide.
Objective:
to present a project for a study program of a Latin American diploma in Health and Disasters.
Method:
an action research project in which a program for a Latin American diploma of Health and Disasters will be designed, using the methodology of problem-based learning, whose object of study will be the teaching-learning process of Disaster Medicine as a discipline in the medical career and its field of action and the curricular design for a diploma in Health and Disasters.
Results:
six methodological workshops were planned through which all the curricular design of the course will be built, pertinent to health needs with a multidisciplinary and intersectorial approach. This curriculum will be based on a cultural historical approach with a constructivist base, where the students will stop being the subject of teaching to become subjects of their learning.
Conclusions:
the project for the design of a program for a Latin American Diploma in Health and Disasters was developed, which will update the pedagogical model of teaching Disaster Medicine, synchronizing it with the contemporary tendencies of current pedagogy in the university field of medical sciences, which can be generalized by its originality, providing new pedagogical frameworks and tools to teachers for the teaching of this important discipline.
