To give an answer to the interests of the UNEP and the PHO, it is necessary to incorporate the health component into the priorities of the GRO project, which has only been able to representate the behavior of the environmental problems at the world and regional level up to now. In order to analyze the available health and environmental indicators, the information about the primary data by acute respiratory infections (ARI) and bronchial asthma acute crises (BAAC) was obtained. The quality indicators of the air were described to establish geographic relations among them through the representation of their behavior in a geographic information system (GIS). Only the effects on health were shown. The particles exceeded the monthly means and showed the highest precentage of transgression. It was also observed an increase in the number of cases with respiratory infections and bronchial asthma crises as the atmospheric pollution was potentiated.
Keywords : Geographic information system (GIS); environmental indicators; quality of air,; admissible maximum concentrations (ASMC)..
