Abstract

PEREZ JIMENEZ, Dianellys; JIMENEZ ACOSTA, Santa  and  PLASENCIA CONCEPCION, Delia. Household health: food-nutritional approach. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 2007, vol.45, n.2. ISSN 0253-1751.

Housing may favorably influence the restoring processes of health since home is the primary site of learning of knowledge, practices and attitudes in relation to food and nutrition. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization have paid great attention to household food security. At the International Conference on Nutrition held in Rome in 1992 and at the World Food Summit held in 1996, a set of very specific strategies were adopted in household food security. High priority was given to food and nutrition in the field of health due to the increased morbidity burden associated to nutritional disorders. The aim of this paper was to provide some guidelines with respect to nutrition and also to reduce the risks of food and nutrition-related diseases.

Keywords : Housing; food hygiene; household food security.
