Abstract

MONDEJAR BARRIOS, María Dolores  and  AMADO BARREDA, Midiala. Application of homeopathy in smoker patients from the "Enrique Varona" place. Rev Cubana Hig Epidemiol [online]. 2010, vol.48, n.3, pp. 253-263. ISSN 1561-3003.

An interventional study was conducted before and after application of homeopathic method in a group of smokers of the "Enrique Varona" place in the Chambas municipality from March 1, 2005 to March 31, 2006. The proposed objective was to determine the validity of method in treatment of smoking depending on the decrease in the number of cigarettes consumed by smokers or its cessation. The universe included 40 smoker subjects assisting to the smoking detoxification consultation. Survey was the collection information technique. The person polled identified ailments related to the smoking including respiratory symptoms and high blood pressure among the more relevant. The 62.5% of smokers seen decreased significantly the cigarette consumption and the 37.5% gave up it. In spite of the fact that not all of them eliminate completely this harmful habit due to a lack of will, good results were achieved with the use of homeopathy, an effective therapy and with a minimal of toxicity which has provoked a huge social interest and that is included in the non-behavioral procedures to treat the smoking.
