Abstract

TORRES GARCIA, Nelson; GONZALEZ LOPEZ, Fernando; DIAZ CABEZA, Idania  and  CRESPO PALACIOS, Carlos Lázaro. Post-graduate studies in English Language por health professionals. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2007, vol.11, n.5, pp. 156-161. ISSN 1561-3194.

Post-graduate education in Cuba constitutes a national system. This idea has several senses that are important to clarify. It is a system, since post-graduate education is ruled by single criteria in all the institutions of the country where scientific and professional formation of graduates in universities take place. It is aimed at the training of professionals from the different institutions of the country, thereby reinforcing the solution to several problems that professionals face in the different places where their activities are performed. An example of this is shown repeatedly in the completion of international missions by Cuban doctors and other health professionals, in other countries where the use of the English language to communicate is not a metaphor but a reality. The purpose of this work is to take into consideration the role of post-graduate courses in English language for health professionals in Cuba.
