Abstract
GONZALEZ LEON, Sergio; CASO DE ARMAS, Damaris and GONZALEZ CHAVEZ, Ailen. Lectin: a biomolecule that promises in biomedical sciences. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.2, pp. 3-12. ISSN 1561-3194.
A literature review aimed at deepening and disseminates knowledge about the lectins was carried out. Lectins are a heterogeneous group of proteins or glycoproteins that are grouped by their capability of recognizing and binding to carbohydrates or glycoconjugates having a high specificity. Lectins can be of interest to professionals involved in biomedical sciences and it could be very useful to learn and deepen into the study of biomolecules such as lectins, which promise to become in useful tools to conduct researches in biomedical sciences.
Keywords : Lectin; proteins [classification].
