Abstract

GOMEZ MARTINEZ, Nayaris  and  GOMEZ MARTINEZ, Nairovys. Congenital glaucoma: a case report. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2011, vol.15, n.4, pp. 245-251. ISSN 1561-3194.

Congenital glaucoma is not frequent, it appears in the first three years after birth and it is an isolated disorder in the development of the angle of the anterior chamber, the majority of patients do not manifest its presence at birth because of the small production of aqueous humor. The early onset has a poor prognosis, these patients present a very high altered drainage, lack of aqueous humor produced in the eye of the newborn that cannot be managed. Proceedings and treatment performed in a case that was diagnosed in Pinar del Rio province is presented. The patient achieved a satisfactory evolution.
