Abstract

TRUJILLO SAINZ, Zenobia de la Caridad; HENRIQUEZ TRUJILLO, Daimy  and  LABRADOR FALERO, Milagros. Teaching consult in the consolidation of learning process. A didactic proposal. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.5, pp.123-136. ISSN 1561-3194.

Introduction: the approaches of organizing learning are spatial structures of the teaching-learning process that give rise to different student groups, including lectures, workshops, practices, seminars and teaching consultations. The arrangement is independent of the syllabus and dissimilar methods are applied to the teaching-learning process, providing new professor-student relationships where the learning methods are strengthened. Objective: to propose a didactic strategy which allows unifying criteria to plan, organize and implement the different forms of teaching consultations on Morphology and Physiology subject in medical studies. Method: a descriptive and cross-sectional study which included 28 professors teaching in first academic year of medical studies was conducted, applying a survey to them which was aimed at exploring criteria concerning the diverse phases that characterize the schedule, implementation and methods of teaching consultations in their subjects. Results: 90% of those polled considered teaching consultations as periods where students take advantage to fill up learning gaps, 78% added that the most accepted were those planned before evaluations, and 66% expressed consultations had not a positive effect in the development of skills to learn. Conclusions: to plan a correct teaching consultation implies: mastery of the psychological base of educational process, structuring active forms of the process, selection of learning methods, with definition of programmed and modeled actions to use learning procedures, along with new ways of orientation for the activity.
