Introduction: educational work as inexorable part of the educational work in an teaching institution reaches its highest development when both professors and the rest of the personnel are capable of linking the educational activity in view of the student's comprehensive development; values education intrinsically belongs to it and is linked to the lesson and to the rest of the extracurricular activities carried out in schools. Objective: to explain the actions developed for the value education and the educational work in the university, from the outreach dimension. Method: logical-historic, bibliographical review, empirical method of survey conduction. Results: the social mission of the medical university is guaranteed by the outreach process, which complements the health program and contributes to meet the goals of preserving culture by means of promotion, the professorial function attaining the meeting of the increasing needs of health of the human collectivity and foment the changes at the level of the society. The common strategies of the medical university with the local systems constitute a real working tool integrated at territorial level. Conclusions: the impact of the outreach work is attained by a strategy that starts in the social work of the university, in the educational, research and health care works to the departments, the specific academic years, discipline, and subjects, substantially complete during the lesson. The action carried out by the student in the outreach activities set goals to any comprehensive educational project.
