Abstract

ARENCIBIA GARCIA, Evelyn et al. The unitary prosthetic rehabilitation on implants in the partially-edentulous patient. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2015, vol.19, n.3, pp.403-412. ISSN 1561-3194.

Introduction: dental implantation is one of the most therapeutic procedures performed nowadays for oral rehabilitation. Objective: to characterize the prosthetic rehabilitation with bone-integrated implants of partially-edentulous patient. Material and method: a descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study was conducted in patients rehabilitated with unitary prostheses over bone-integrated implants at Antonio Briones Montoto Dentistry Clinic, Pinar del Río during the period between 2006 and 2010, which is aimed at characterizing its behavior. The working universe consists of 40 patients matching with the sample. The information was compiled through data obtained from the clinical history and from a survey that determined the level of knowledge related to the implant treatment. The proportions comparison test to determine the significance of the results was applied. Results: 65 implants were found to correspond to the upper jaw, which represented 84.4% of the sample. There was a statistically significant dependence between good oral hygiene and healthy mucosa. Front teeth fracture prevailed in 6 rehabilitations to 7.7% among those who presented complications. A good level of knowledge among patients was found. Conclusions: prosthetic rehabilitation with unitary bone-integrated prostheses in the partially edentulous patient and the need for further researches related to the characterization of the implant was analyzed.
