Introduction:

knowledge of the development of psychomotor skills of children with cerebral palsy is an essential aspect to establish interdisciplinary work in the comprehensive intervention by ambulatory care.

Objective:

to characterize the development of the psychomotricity of children with cerebral palsy educationally assisted by means of ambulatory care as a premise for interdisciplinary work.

Method:

a descriptive study was carried out concerning the psychomotor development of the sample during 2015-2017. Twelve students with cerebral palsy between 6 and 14 years were chosen. The explored areas were: language and communication, in the psycho-affective sphere, cognitive development, motor and socialization. Observation, logopedic exploration, Modified Motor Function Scale, qualitative analysis test and family interview were applied.

Results:

spastic cerebral palsy prevails in 83,3 % of cases associated with intellectual disability; 100 % present difficulties in language and communication, in cognitive and motor development; 91,7 % present affectations in the affective-volitional sphere, and 66,7 % in socialization. Relationships between Physiatrics, Physical Education, Speech Therapy, Logopedics, Psychology and Pedagogy are required for comprehensive intervention by ambulatory means.

Conclusions:

the development of psychomotricity in children with cerebral palsy on ambulatory care in Pinar del Río is characterized by a delay according to the rules of development in the different areas explored. The comprehensive intervention requires a coherent interdisciplinary articulation with the support of intentional intersectorial work.
