Abstract
POZO MADERA, Esperanza et al. Nursing care in Pinar del Rio in the practice of Cuban Internationalism from 1998 to 2017. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.2, pp. 263-273. Epub Mar 01, 2020. ISSN 1561-3194.
Introduction:
international solidarity in Cuba is a fact, not as a discourse or spontaneous expression, but as an issue of designed principles put into practice in all sectors of society.
Objective:
to observe the historical evolution of internationalism in nursing and its particularities in Pinar del Rio from 1998 to 2017.
Development:
an intentional sample of 212 nurses who participated in international missions in the chosen period was selected using the dialectic and historical method for research through testimonies. A questionnaire was applied to collect information from the chosen participants concerning the type of mission, time, country and most relevant experiences during the accomplishment of missions. A greater participation was achieved in the period 1998 to 2017 due to the incorporation of other missions, projects and collaborations. The idea of the Commander in Chief was always present in the development of each and every one of the actions carried out by these professionals anywhere in the world.
Conclusions:
nursing-internationalist work in Pinar del Río has been present in all historical moments from the wars of independence to the present day.
