Abstract

Introduction:

the care of elderly patients with exacerbated chronic kidney disease is a frequent cause of consultation in primary health care, which constitutes a challenge for the comprehensive medicine practitioner.

Objective:

to characterize the current state of the professional training of the comprehensive medicine practitioner on exacerbated chronic kidney disease in older adults in Los Palacios municipality during 2019.

Methods:

the system of methods used integrated theoretical, empirical and statistical methods, the population consisted of 30 comprehensive medicine practitioners, the study variable was the process of professional training for the comprehensive medicine practitioner on chronic kidney disease in the elderly, a database was created in the Microsoft Excel program and the results were processed through the summary measure for qualitative variables. Ethical principles were met.

Results:

before the emergence of the comprehensive medicine practitioner program, the professional training activities were sporadically given alternating with periods of increase but in a non-systemic way, the professional training on acute chronic kidney disease in the elderly for the comprehensive medicine practitioner is insufficient, mainly related to the mastery of knowledge; currently there are the necessary human and material resources to change this situation.

Conclusions:

the process of professional training for comprehensive medicine practitioners on acute chronic kidney disease in the elderly in Primary Health Care is irregular and there are limitations in the essential skills and knowledge about this disease.
