Abstract

Background: Oral diseases are frequent in pregnancy. Objective: To describe the oral health condition in a pregnant women group South Area. Sancti Spíritus. 2014. Methodology: It was carried out a descriptive, transversal and observable study from September 2013 to January 2014. The universe was composed by 60 pregnant women, assisted in consultation which was the sample to be studied. Results: The prevailing age was from 25-30; dental caries was the most frequent dental affection followed by gingivitis, deficient oral hygiene and a cariogenic diet were the prevailing risk factors and a high COP-D index. Conclusion: Dental caries as the most frequent dental affection in pregnant women followed by gingivitis, the COP-D index was high and increase with age; deficient oral hygiene and a cariogenic diet were the prevailing risk factors.
