Abstract

ROMERO LOPEZ, Teresita de J.. Fishing organic riles to culture Chlorella spp. and Moina sp. and their physico-chemical characteristics. RIHA [online]. 2012, vol.33, n.1, pp. 61-70. ISSN 1680-0338.

Fishing resources repopulation in Cuba has led to a search of feeding sources alternatives, like Moina sp. feeded with Chlorella spp. previously cultivated in fishing organic riles. To this end a study was made analysing water physico-chemical characteristics where zooplankton was cultivated, applying Chlorella spp. in suspension as a single feeding source. The study took into account both the aquarium and tanks where experiments were carried out, and in the production tank where the zooplankton was collected (water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, soluble biochemical oxygen demand, nitrite, ammonium and phosphate). According to the results obtained, Moina sp. can be developed by employing microalgae cultured in fishing organic effluents, which at the same time contribute to environmental improvement.

Keywords : fishing organic riles; Moina sp.; Chlorella spp.; physico-chemical variables.
