Abstract
LAMAZARES GONZALEZ, Roberto; CORDOVA LOPEZ, Luis F. and SALGUEIRO MELIS, Grethel. Optimum coupling between wave generation and wave propagation mathematical models. RIHA [online]. 2014, vol.35, n.1, pp.32-46. ISSN 1680-0338.
To simulate coastal process, due to their complexity, the required precision and the desired results, it becomes necessary the use of several mathematical models coupled to each other. In this work an attempt is made for an optimum coupling of two wave generation and wave propagation models (WW3 v3.14 and SWAN v40.85), for which two work phases are established. The first phase has as its fundamental objective to determine the best relationship between precision and computational time, while the second is mainly directed to obtain the best nesting alternative between the models. The case study to carry out the investigation was the Wilma hurricane. The statistical variable to determine the best results was the coefficient of determination R2.
