Abstract

BOSCH FUENTES, Patricia  and  RECIO VILLA, Iosvany Alberto. Calibration and simulation of the source system for El Gato water supply aqueduct. RIHA [online]. 2014, vol.35, n.1, pp. 101-115. ISSN 1680-0338.

This work presents the calibration and simulation of the source system for El Gato water supply aqueduct. The methodology of calibration integrates a mathematical model based on a genetic algorithm (GA) with the simulation based on EPANET software. An objective function that minimizes the differences between measurements in the system and the results simulated with EPANET was used for calibration. The main contribution of the work is parameters estimation such as pipe roughness, coefficients of existent leaks and real demand in the system. Finally, it is demonstrated that an adequate level of calibration is attained and that by means of the validation process the capability of the model was evaluated to reflect the behavior of the system under different operating conditions.

Keywords : water supply; genetic algorithms; calibration; simulation.
