RIANO VALLE, Félix. The Birth of Theoretical Hydrodynamics. RIHA [online]. 2014, vol.35, n.2, pp. 66-78. ISSN 1680-0338.

This paper aims to analyze not only the context in which the birth of Theoretical Hydrodynamics took place but also its XVIII- century main exponents´ contributions. The origin of one of the most important principles of this branch of Fluid Mechanics: Bernoulli´s theorem is discussed. Also considerations are made on the scientific progress ocurring during the XVI and XVII centuries, making emphasis on Isaac Newton´s contributions. The paper defines the most important aspects of the life of the four founding fathers of this science: L. Euler, D. Bernoulli, J. L.D´Alembert and A. Clairaut.
