Abstract

MOLINA PEREZ, Daniel; CABRERA ESTUPINAN, Eric  and  RAMOS ARZOLA, Lemuel Carlos. MODFLOW and AQÜIMPE: two approximations to reality. RIHA [online]. 2014, vol.35, n.2, pp. 107-122. ISSN 1680-0338.

This article makes a comparative analysis between the results offered by two groundwater modeling softwares, such as MODFLOW and AQÜIMPE. To facilitate modelers the use in a case study the simulation tools and capabilities of both models, several modeling strategies are presented that contribute to the similarity of results of both systems. These strategies are one of the most remarkable results of this work. For comparative analysis, mathematical modeling of a teaching case studyis performed using both systems and then the real Cuentas Claras aquifer is modeled (Granma province, Cuba) in order to follow the behavior of both models in a real case where several areas of infiltration and properties are considered.

Keywords : AQÜIMPE; aquifer mathematical modeling; MODFLOW; PMWIN.
