Abstract

The functions and uses of water resources in the Great Wetland North of Ciego de Avila have varied over the years in line with the changes made by man on the natural water regime and socio-economic development of the territory. Therefore, the aim of this study has been to show the present circumstances existing in the wetland, especially as they relate to the objectives for which the hydraulic structures were built, the maintenance of ecological characteristics and the proper development of its biodiversity, depending largely on an optimal management of water resources in the territory.
